Small brown spots on leaf tips and margins
Small (3-5 mm) brown spots appear on leaf tips and margins. Spots have darker brown borders and may have a yellow halo.
Expanding necrotic lesions and vine dieback
Lesions expand and merge, creating large necrotic areas. Petioles and vine stems develop dark sunken lesions that may girdle the vine, causing dieback from the tips. Salmon-pink spore masses (acervuli) may be visible on lesions.
Severe defoliation and tuber yield loss
Massive defoliation during the critical tuber bulking period. Vines die back extensively. Tuber yield is reduced 80-100% in severe cases. Tubers may also develop surface lesions affecting storage quality.
